Il San Pietro di Positano
A five-star hotel carved into the rock, with terraces dropping sheer to the sea of Positano.
UNESCO World Heritage · from Positano to Amalfi and Ravello
Dreaming of a wedding on the Amalfi Coast with live violin? I play all along the coast — from Positano to Amalfi and up to Ravello — adapting the music and repertoire to the venue you choose, high above the sea.
The Amalfi Coast is a stretch of shoreline unlike any other in the world, a UNESCO World Heritage Site: a sequence of villages clinging to the rock between the Gulf of Salerno and the Sorrento peninsula, where every town has its own character and its own light. To marry here is to choose a natural setting that changes at every bend: the vertical houses of Positano, the grandeur of the Cathedral of Amalfi, the hanging gardens of Ravello, the small coves of Conca dei Marini. In this landscape the violin is not mere accompaniment but a thread that binds the rite, the sea and the history of a place loved the world over.
I know the coast as a whole, not as a single venue but as a system of towns linked by one panoramic road and by many routes across the water. I understand how much the real distance between a church and the reception villa weighs on the success of a day, how long a boat transfer from Positano to Amalfi takes, the hour at which the light turns perfect on a certain terrace. That is why, when a couple gets in touch, I think first about the map of the day and only then about the music: in a territory like this, the two have to move together.
Each village calls for a different kind of care. In Positano, vertical and scenic, ceremonies often unfold across stairways and terraces overlooking the main beach: here I look after placement and light amplification so the sound reaches the guests without being lost in the wind. In Amalfi, the historic heart of the coast, the backdrop of the steps of the Cathedral of Sant'Andrea asks for a solemn, measured repertoire. In Praiano, Conca dei Marini and the more secluded villages, the atmosphere is gathered and intimate, and the solo violin finds its most natural dimension.

Panoramic terraces above the main beach of Positano, much sought after for ceremonies and receptions.

A historic residence with a park and cloister in the Sorrento area, overlooking the Bay of Naples.

A villa with gardens and citrus groves in the centre of Sorrento, an elegant setting for weddings on the peninsula.
For the ceremony we put together a programme that honours both the couple and the place: classical pieces for the solemn moments, contemporary and cinematic arrangements for the more personal passages, and, where it feels right, a nod to the Neapolitan song that has deep roots along this coast. The entrance, the exchange of rings and the recessional remain the three focal points around which I build the emotion, but I always adapt everything to the real space: a beach, a cloister and a sheer terrace are not played in the same way.
For the aperitif and the reception I bring an elegant, never intrusive atmosphere that follows the rhythm of the celebration throughout the evening: from the background during drinks at sunset over the sea to the livelier moments, in dialogue with the band or DJ where there is one. I can offer the solo violin, the duo or the string trio depending on the scale of the event and the spaces, always keeping the same care for the transitions and for the volume, which along the coast must be balanced carefully between open settings and indoor halls.
The most delicate part of an Amalfi Coast wedding is almost always the logistics, and this is exactly where my experience makes the difference. Transfers between towns can happen by road, by sea or by private shuttle, and the timing is never that of a city: I plan arrivals, set-up and rehearsals well in advance with the wedding planners and local suppliers, so that I am ready at every venue without keeping the couple waiting. I take care of permits for live music where required, of the power supply and of a discreet set-up, so that the technical side stays invisible and only the emotion remains in the foreground.
Many couples who choose the Amalfi Coast come from abroad and plan a wedding spread over several days, with a welcome dinner, the ceremony and the party. In these cases I become a fixed point for the musical side of the whole stay, coordinating with international planners and offering a repertoire that speaks to guests of different languages and cultures. Whether it is a single day or a layered event, the goal never changes: to turn the setting of the Amalfi Coast into a soundtrack the couple and their guests will remember forever.
I study the map of the day with the couple — church, villa, any boat transfers — before defining the programme and the line-up, so the music follows the movements between the villages without a hitch.
I arrive early at each venue for set-up and sound checks, handling light amplification and permits where needed, so the ceremony and reception run with no technical worries.
We married between Positano and Amalfi and Donato tied every moment together with his violin: organised, sensitive and brilliant at handling the transfers.
